First, leaders from the heart need to build rapport from the heart. Building rapport from the heart is being genuinely interested in the people around you, giving them a real chance to like you and do business with you, not for your own interest only but for both interests.

Rapport is one of the most important characteristics of human interaction. Simply speaking, building rapport or being in rapport is being on the same wavelength, or the same page as the person with whom you are communicating. Rapport is also a feeling of harmonious connection between people or groups of people. Building rapport is an essential skill anyone can master.

Secondly, you will need to notice how people think and use it to your advantage to reach win-win situations. NLP uses the term meta-programs to indicate how people think and the habitual patterns they use in a given situation. Examples of NLP meta-programs include the preference for overview versus detail, the preference for where to place your attention during a conversation, your outcome preference, your preferred social styles (assertiveness, indifference, and tolerance), your convincer patterns, learning preferences and many more.

By building rapport from the heart and understanding meta-programs to reach your communication goals, your will discover a new way of doing business with people, a new paradigm shift. You will start your journey towards excellence by leading from the heart.
